A DANNY LLOYD spotkick midway through the second half proved the difference as Stockport County edged past Gainsborough Trinity.
Relegation-threatened Gainsborough defended resolutely for long periods, but an error of judgement by centreback Ioan Evans gave Lloyd the chance from the penalty spot.
Trinity keeper Tom Nicholson guessed the right way but was unable to prevent Lloyd netting his 20th league goal of the campaign.
