DUNSTONUTS manager Chris Swailes has told of his sadness after defender David Hiftle was forced to end his playing career.
The former Morpeth Town star suffered a recurrence of a knee injury over the past two weeks and that has forced him to announce his retirement from the game.
Before taking over at Dunston, Swailes played alongside Hiftle during his time with the Highwaymen and moved to sign his former team-mate last summer.
Hiftle actually kept Swailes out of the Morpeth line-up as they embarked on their successful FA Vase run in 2016 but a posterior cruciate ligament...
