CHORLEY’S return to the top of the National North was promptly cut short by a lively Blyth Spartans.
The visitors benefited from two penalty awards by referee Matt Corlett, who took centre stage with a flurry of nine evenly-distributed pre-Christmas cards.
And the game was ultimately decided by an enterprising double substitution by Blyth boss Alun Armstrong midway through the second half.
