NUNEATON BOROUGH came within two minutes of stopping a six-match losing streak as they put in a heroic shift at home to play-off chasing Alfreton.
The Boro were forced to play the entire second half with ten men, and despite the disadvantage they tested the visitors to the full, who needed an 88th-minute penalty to secure the victory…
Not that the Reds didn’t have their chances. In a dull first half, they came closest to breaking the deadlock when Josh Wilde saw his effort fizz just wide.
