A TOTALLY revamped Blyth Spartans got the new season off to a flying start with an impressive win against Alfreton Town.
All 11 home starters were new signings, seven of them returnees, with former loanee JJ O’Donnell the Spartans match winner.
Blyth gifted Alfreton an early chance from Alex Mitchell’s goal kick but Bobby Johnson fired over the bar.
O’Donnell had a couple of openings he couldn’t get on target while Matt Rhead’s half volley went close at the other end.
