DARLINGTON’S losing start to the season ended with a battling comeback draw in a feisty derby.
It was a rewarding return to Croft Park for Quakers’ former Blyth manager Alun Armstrong, after his side recovered from two down.
Blyth hadn’t conceded on home turf and were ahead after just nine minutes when captain JJ O’Donnell got on the end of Nicky Deverdics’ free-kick to head home.
Former Newcastle trainee Lewis McNall then doubled the lead when another header beat Tommy Taylor in the Quakers goal, Karl Byrne this time with the delivery.
