Entertaining derby ends in stalemate

BOTH sides needed three points for different reasons but this end-to-end north-east derby ended goalless as play-off chasing Darlington made it just one win in 12 games.
Nicky Deverdics’ measured lob saw Blyth striker Cedric Main’s lob deflected over the bar and then Jacob Blyth shot over when well-placed at the other end.
Quakers twice went close in a lively opening, Alex Purver’s goalbound shot headed off the line by Jordan Hickey, while Kaine Felix’s header from Nathan Newall’s corner hit the post.
