Spartans fall while Saints’ fight goes on

BLYTH SPARTANS’ seven-year stay in the National League North is over after relegation was confirmed by a humiliating hammering at home to promotion chasing Brackley Town.
The Saints will now face the winners of the Chorley v Curzon Ashton clash in the play-offs.
A first-half collapse saw Blyth’s hopes dashed as the Saints romped into a four-goal lead via Morgan Roberts and Danny Newton braces. Nicky Deverdics scored a consolation before Dan Turner added a fifth for Brackley.
