The weekend’s games commenced last night with Scunthorpe United moving four points clear at the top of nearest rivals Kidderminster Harriers.
Goals from Alfie Beestin and Kian Scales were enough for Scunny, who’ve only dropped two points so far.
Scarborough Athletic and Curzon Ashton will try to close the gap. Scarborough are home to South Shields, who lost at Scunthorpe on Bank Holiday Monday. Curzon, 4th, have wobbled of late with a 4-0 hammering at Brackley on Saturday. They haven’t scored in their last two and will hope to put it right against Rushall Olympic, who have just one win from five contests.
Darlington meet Spennymoor Town in a highly anticipated derby. Just two points separate the two though Darlo are eight places lower ahead of the meeting at Blackwell Meadows.
Hereford have scored seven in their last two games to move into the play-off spots. They’re on the road to Brackley Town, hoping to extend their unbeaten start to six games.
They crushed Southport 4-1 at the weekend. The Sandgrounders won their first two but have lost all three since, and 12 goals against is the joint worst defensive record in National League North. They’ll look to recover at home to Buxton, who surprisingly lost at home to Marine on Bank Holiday Monday.
Oxford City had a wretched weekend, conceding eight goals and tumbling down to second bottom, just months after relegation from the National League. They’re home to Chorley with Sam Cox still looking for his first win in charge. Only Needham Market are keeping the Hoops off the bottom, they head to Warrington Town.
Alfreton Town could afford to leave top scorer David Moyo unused on the bench for Monday’s win over the Marketmen. They’re home to a Farsley Celtic side who won’t play at home until September 21, while The Citadel is redeveloped.
Marine play Leamington in a battle of two sides promoted last year and Radcliffe, also up from Step 3, are home to King’s Lynn Town in the division’s remaining match.
