■ AFTER their recent FA Cup exploits, Gorleston fell to their fifth league defeat in a row with only one goal scored in that run. Kieran Higgs had the first shot after two minutes but the Cambridge keeper, Tom Middlehurst saved.
Gorleston were given a warning after 23 minutes when a corner saw George Smith’s header hit the underside of the crossbar.
Eight minutes before the break another Cambridge corner saw Jayden Gipson, unchallenged in the box, plant his header into the net to open the scoring.
