National League South side Torquay United have confirmed that defender Jakub Sokolik will be out of action for the “near future”.
The club have confirmed that the Czech center back suffered a medial collateral ligament injury in the Gulls’ 2-0 victory over East Thurrock earlier in the month.
Sokolik came through the academy structure at Premier League giants Liverpool, before making moves to Yeovil Town, Southend United and Plymouth Argyle.
The defender, who has been capped at both under 16 and under 17 level for the Czech Republic, arrived at Plainmoor in February after leaving Plymouth by mutual consent.
The Gulls are currently sitting in 7th place in the National League South table following relegation last season.
