Jamie O’Hara has become the latest high-profile player to leave Billericay Town.
Last week Adam Cunnington, Scott Doe and Ricky Modeste all left the New Lodge while star striker Jake Robinson moved to Maidstone United.
The NLP reported on Sunday that the club is set to be taken over this week with owner Glenn Tamplin’s dream of taking them into the Football League all but in tatters.
Irish businessman David McCartney – whose company DMC Contracts sponsor Belfast club St James’ Swifts – is set to take over providing the club, which had been running with a reported £22,000-a-week wage bill, can become sustainable by slashing players’ wages to £10,000 with Tamplin not putting anymore money in.
Former Tottenham, Wolves and Fulham midfielder O’Hara was one of Tamplin’s first big name signings, but now he has also headed for the exit door.
