Jerry Gill: Bath City on course to meet target

Jerry Gill says ‘s nine-game unbeaten run has given them a chance of hitting their target of a play-off finish.
The Romans are in fine form ahead of this weekend’s match with .
Gill’s side are fourth in the table and six points behind leaders , albeit having played a game more, and he says they are determined to maintain it.
“We’re all working ever so hard,” Gill said. “In all levels and all leagues, nothing is won in January. But what we’ve done is put ourselves in a strong position – our target in pre-season was to be in the play-offs.
“We’re just trying to consolidate that and by doing that, with our work ethic and attitude as players, they’ve gone on a fantastic unbeaten run which has put us in this strong position.
“It’s no more than that at the moment but we’re confident we can consolidate and stay in there until the end of the season.
“We didn’t want our game to be called off last week, we wanted to keep the continuity going. The boys are in buoyant mood. We’ve got a few coming back to fitness now – Ryan Brunt, Andy Watkins, Sean Rigg, Kevin Amankwaah will be back in the next week or so as well. So we’ve got a competitive squad and the right characters.
“I’ve spoken about it before, but the Christmas period was an example to the type of players we signed in the summer. We really took our time over it and made sure we got characters along with quality.
“That run over Christmas and through January means players have really looked after themselves, which we all know in is sometimes not easy to do. They managed to do it and we embraced all the games over Christmas. That’s what’s put us where we are now.”
