(Jamie Howell was sacked after defeat at Billericay)
Eastbourne Borough are set to appoint their new manager ahead of Saturday’s home game against Wealdstone.
The National League South side sacked boss Jamie Howell following their defeat at Billericay on the weekend, having won just two of their last 14 games in all competitions.
Howell joined the club in 2017 after winning promotion from the Bostik League with Bognor Regis Town and kept Eastbourne at Step 2 in his first season.
Borough are nine points above the drop this year, but recent results have worried the club’s board, who are now in the process of appointing a new management team to be initially in charge for the remainder of the season
Meetings are being conducted today (Monday 18th) and it is hoped a new manager will be in place by at least Saturday, and preferably ahead of the next training session.
The club confirmed: “Jamie Howell was relieved of his duties following the game at Billericay. This was a cumulation of concern over Borough’s poor league form through the middle of the season, and the need to secure National South status between now and 27th April.
“The Board has great respect for Jamie personally and is grateful for his efforts over the past 21 months. It was simply felt that a change of management offered the best chance to reverse the run of results.
“Plans to have an interim management team in place before our next training session are well advanced and we expect to be making a further announcement very shortly.”
