October’s winners of the MANarama National League South monthly manager, player and volunteer awards are celebrating!
Chippenham Town‘s Mark Collier was unveiled as the division’s top boss at lunchtime on Friday with Hampton & Richmond Borough’s Charlie Wassmer collecting October’s top player accolade. Chelmsford City‘s Jim Culleton was named volunteer of the month.
MANarama National League South Manager of the Month – Mark Collier, Chippenham Town
If Chippenham Town fans wanted a little lift before their big weekend FA Cup moment, then they have certainly got it.
Northampton Town await on Sunday, but the Cobblers are taking on not just a team in form but one who are bossed by the National League South Manager of the Month.
Pictured right, Mark Collier has guided his club to an October to remember.
Their unbeaten month saw them triumph over Slough Town, Whyteleafe and Concord Rangers.
Now it’s all eyes on the Wiltshire town as we wait to see if they can create a little bit of FA Cup history.
If confidence really is key for the underdog in the famous old competition, then rule the Bluebirds out at your peril!
MANarama National League South Player of the Month – Charlie Wassmer, Hampton & Richmond Borough
Not many players can sign for a club on loan one day and immediately be made captain the next.
Bur Charlie Wassmer is cut from a different cloth. Back at the club he helped take to the play-offs two years ago, it’s like he’s not been away.
The Hampton & Richmond Borough defensive general knows how to rally the troops. Since signing from Billericay Town in September, the Beavers have looked unplayable – losing just once since his arrival.
Straight into the team after signing, Wassmer said their win over Chesham in the FA Cup could be “a platform to build on”. The certainly did that in October.
Wassmer played a crucial role in wins over Welling United and Maidstone United – that was either side of scoring the winning goal against Hungerford Town.
It’s a run that has seen Gary McCann’s side drag themselves away from the foot of the league to the safer surroundings of mid-table.
If momentum is really that important in football, watch out for Wassmer and his revitalised Hampton team-mates.
MANarama National League South Volunteer of the Month – Jim Culleton, Chelmsford City
Jim Culleton of Chelmsford City has won Volunteer of the Month in the National League South.
Jim is a Committee Member at Chelmsford City. He plays an active role in the Club’s community scheme, regularly visiting local schools as part of the community team.
On matchdays, he supervises the hospitality areas at the Melbourne Community Stadium, and looks after all Match Officials in attendance. Jim also assists the Kit Manager as part of his matchday routine.
The club are delighted to see him recognised for his efforts and believe Jim fully deserves the award.
