ST ALBANS moved to the brink of the play-off places with a hard-won victory at the Beveree.
The Saints had the better of the game, but it took them over an hour mark to make the breakthrough.
After a draw at highflying Woking in their last outing, St Albans started on the front foot and creating a host of chances for top scorer David Moyo.
