SAINT Albans City bagged a much-needed victory courtesy of an own-goal to send Maidstone United back to Kent empty handed.
The game’s solitary goal came on 61 minutes when Maidstone midfielder Ross Marshall unluckily deflected the ball past goalkeeper Chris Lewington.
It was a contest of very few memorable moments but, as well as the three points, the clean sheet will please Saints manager Ian Allinson, particularly with an injury forcing a defensive change after just 15 minutes when Jamie Fielding hobbled off.
