BRAINTREE TOWN lost their unbeaten home run, which had stretched back eight matches, as Maidstone United went top of the National League South.
The Stones arrived at Gressing Road with the best away record in the league and they underlined their title credentials by taking the two chances that they created and then defending resolutely.
Braintree came close to opening the scoring after 27 minutes. Shae Hutchinson got past Gavin Hoyte and his low shot beat Tom Hadler only for Jerome Binnom-Williams to clear away from the line.
