STEFAN PAYNE claimed a hat-trick as Welling United secured National League South safety by defeating champions Ebbsfleet United.
Darren McQueen missed the target three times for the visitors in the early exchanges before Welling had a big shout for a penalty when Manny Parry was hauled down.
Ebbsfleet took advantage shortly after when a long ball found McQueen. He cut in and played a return pass with Shaquile Coulthirst before firing home.
