PLAY-OFF hopefuls South Shields had a man sent off early and late as they crashed to a dismal derby defeat on home soil against relegation-threatened Darlington.
Long-serving Mariners captain Rob Briggs was sent off in the first ten minutes for denying a scoring opportunity after a foul on former Shields man Cedric Main.
Shields were able to stem the Quakers’ attack in the first half but the Quakers made their numerical advantage count.
