MARTELL TAYLOR-CROSSDALE scored the only goal as Welling United beat Aveley in the season opener.
It was a cagey start and clear chances were few and far between in the first half. Dave Winfield met a Welling corner that was saved by Carey Bloedorn before Gene Kennedy’s shot was blocked into the path of TJ Bramble, who fired wide. Then Aveley had a good spell and Rhys Lovett made a great save from Harry Gibbs before he pushed over an Ikechi Eze free-kick.
