AVELEY defied the odds the secure their first home win and their first clean sheet this season with a victory over one of the league favourites Boreham Wood.
The visitors controlled the possession in the opening exchanges and had a couple of corners which were well dealt with by a well-organised Aveley defence.
Boreham Wood thought they had themselves a penalty after Kwesi Appiah went down in the box after a driving run but that was waved away by the referee.
