Welling United have signed Dave Winfield from National League South rivals Chelmsford City.
The centre-back returned to the Melbourne Community Stadium in July 2021, before departing after 117 outings across two stints.
Having started his career with a Conference Premier winners’ medal at Aldershot Town, Winfield has also played in the EFL for Wycombe Wanderers, Shrewsbury Town and York City. He won promotion with Ebbsfleet United in 2017, scoring a winner against further employers Chelmsford in the Promotion Final.
He has also represented Bromley and Romford.
The 36-year-old reunites with Wings boss Rod Stringer, who he made 10 appearances for in his first spell at Chelmsford in 2019.
Winfield told the official Welling United website:
“It feels great to be here. It’s another opportunity for me to play with Rod. There’s a bit of history there – I understand how he plays and what he wants from me as a player.
“I’m no nonsense. I’m all or nothing on the pitch. I leave everything out there and I definitely wear my heart on my sleeve as far as how I play goes.
“As a senior pro, I expect that from the lads as well, so I lead by example. I’ll give everything for the football club and I want to succeed.”
He joins Zain Walker and Anointed Chukwu as new arrivals at Park View Road for the Step 2 side.
