BASINGSTOKE TOWN shook off their poor start in style by hammering Chesham United with five unanswered goals.
The hosts had yet to score from open play going into the game, but took just six minutes to stop that run when the excellent Sam Smart living up to his name by picking out an open Ben Wright with a low cross, which the striker duly converted.
Wright doubled the advantage ten minutes before half-time after Smart was hacked down inside the box. He dispatched the penalty into the bottom corner for his second goal of the day.
