HITCHIN Town claimed only their second league win of the season against a Basingstoke side who had won three of their last four games.
The early exchanges were scrappy but Hitchin had a stroke of luck on 25 minutes when they took the lead.
Colm McAdden in the Basingstoke goal failed to collect the ball and was robbed by Elliot Bailey. The striker set up Jonny McNamara for his second goal in two games.
Michael Johnson in the Canaries goal kept Hitchin in it just before the break.
