HITCHIN clinched victory as a result of a breathtaking final three minutes.
Canaries keeper Michael Johnson denied Kyle Copp the chance to earn Merthyr a point from the penalty spot, before Elliot Bailey struck his second of the game in stoppage time.
The first half was evenly contested with Jonny McNamara firing wide on the volley for Hitchin after a great pass from Brett Donnelly.
