BEN Diamond bagged a brace as AFC Rushden & Diamonds’ first match at Step Three level ended in a thumping victory over Redditch United.
The hosts took the lead after only three minutes when Jack Bowen volleyed home from close range and that advantage was doubled only five minutes later when Ben Farrell headed home past a stranded keeper.
Rushden looked dangerous throughout the opening period, with fluid link-up play and attackers running in behind, and they extended their lead moments before the half-time whistle.
