Hitchin Town will remain in Southern Premier Central next season.
The Canaries finished 19th in the division last term and looked set to compete in Step 4.
However, Coalville Town‘s resignation from the Southern League last Friday has left a space in the division, and Hitchin have been reinstated.
Hitchin Town released a statement on their official website:
“We are pleased to remain at Step 3 as this keeps us performing at a level which will keep us on track with the objectives in our strategy for the next four years.
“Whilst we obviously welcome the opportunity to remain in the Southern League Premier Central Division there is undoubtedly a lot of work, particularly for Brett and the management team, to ensure we can adapt to this latest development and be ready for the league campaign to start on August 10.”
The Southern League have confirmed that Division One Central will proceed with 21 clubs.
They wrote: “A meeting earlier today of the FA Alliance Committee agreed that the vacancy shall be filled by reprieving Hitchin Town FC in accordance with the principles of Regulation 5.5.2(c) and the club has confirmed this decision being received and acknowledged to the FA.
“Furthermore, the Alliance Committee agreed that, in accordance with NLS Regulation 5.5.2(c) and in order to minimise disruption, the vacancy at Step 4 would not be filled.”
