HITCHIN TOWN achieved an unlikely league double over the Puritans in a spirited encounter at Top Field.
The visitors exerted early pressure that Hitchin absorbed, looking to break on the counter.
Banbury troubled Hitchin with long throws and excellent work on the ball from Connor Stanley and Connor Ferguson.
Urgent defending from Ciaren Jones proved inspirational for his colleagues, who continually frustrated Banbury probes. Home keeper Brian Okonkwo distinguished himself, particularly in the closing stages.
