MERSTHAM fought back from a goal and a man down to secure a vital point which keeps them out of the bottom three.
Bowers made a great start to the game when Callum Leahy headed them in front in the 11th minute, from Tom Stephen’s whipped back-post cross, although Moatsiders keeper Matte Pierson got a hand to it.
The hosts continued to pose the greater threat and before the break, Max Cornhill curled an effort just wide after James Thomas had won possession back.
And the Moatsiders’ task of getting back into the game was made a lot tough...
