■ GARY ABISOGUN rescued a late point for Chertsey, but the hosts could have been forgiven for thinking they should have had all three after hitting the woodwork three times.
Thatcham twice eased ahead with sucker punches, first with Alex Miller lobbing home from 25 yards and Balai Dembele stroking home after 70 minutes.
In between those efforts, Ashley Lodge’s 20-yarder had levelled for Chertsey, before the hosts fired a penalty against the bar.
