■ JAKE GORDON’S late penalty saved a precious point for Great Wakering Rovers in their battle against relegation and blunted Canvey Island’s title hopes in the process.
Gordon sent Canvey keeper Bobby Mason the wrong way from the spot with ten minutes left after Darnell Mavanga-Kithambo had been fouled.
It was no more than the hosts deserved.
Charlie Morris had forced a fine save from Mason before Canvey stole in front when Connor Martin could only turn Evans Kouassi’s cross into his own net.
But Gordon saved the day to leave Rovers...
