■ MANAGERLESS Chertsey Town edged past Tooting & Mitcham, but the margin of victory could have been much greater.
The hosts were lacklustre in the first half, but were unlucky to go a goal down when their attack turned into a break for Tooting and Elijas Bagdonavicius exploited a midfield lapse to score from close range.
The second half saw a resurgent Chertsey in total command. Their first goal came after 56 minutes. A heel was clipped in front of goal and Bill Montague put the ball away from the spot.
