■ WALTHAM Abbey picked up their first win of the new season, Olly Miles’s early goal making all the difference in the end.
The Hall keeper Josh Pope saw red just before half-time.
The game’s only goal came after just nine minutes, the prolific Olly Miles scoring.
A minute before the interval, Miles had a great chance of a second goal, running clear on goal, but Pope rushed outside his penalty area and upended him.
It was an obvious foul and an obvious goalscoring opportunity, so the referee had little option.
