■ SECOND-HALF goals from James Stones and Marcin Ruda helped Eastbourne see off Herne Bay.
The opening 45 minutes was an even affair with both teams having chances to break the deadlock. However, they found both goalkeepers in inspired form.
Herne Bay should have taken the lead just after the break when they hit a post through Mo Kamara.
That miss cost them dearly as Stones put the hosts ahead after 54 minutes when the Bay defence them gave the ball straight to the forward who made no mistake with an empty net.
