WINGATE & Finchley earned their first win of the season and ended Whitehawk’s nascent unbeaten run.
The visitors were helped by two late firsthalf penalties, both converted by skipper Marc Weatherstone.
Whitehawk had the best early chance on 13 minutes, Kwai Marsh- Brown’s volley dipping narrowly over the bar.
The hosts struck first on 28 minutes, Jason Williams powering through the defence and netting from close range.
