ROMFORD came within a whisker of a deathdefying escape act but a 3-1 win over Felixstowe & Walton wasn’t enough to avert a first relegation in ten years.
The Boro looked nothing short of doomed before taking ten points from a possible 12 in April, pointing to a repeat of last season’s heroics that saw them stay up by a single point.
And goals from Craig Jeakins, Greg Akpele and Joseph Chidyausiku meant they did all that was asked of them on final day, but Witham’s 2- 0 win over Basildon sent them down on goal difference.
