Saturday’s contests contained 38 goals and there are 10 fixtures tonight in the Isthmian League Premier Division to whet your appetite.
Last night saw Carshalton Athletic reach the summit with a 3-2 win over Wingate & Finchley. The hosts had initially lost a two-goal lead, but Paris Hamilton-Downes bundled in a 66th minute winner. It takes them to four points from two games.
They shared the spoils at the weekend with Folkestone Invicta in the division’s only draw to date. The Kent club make the short journey to Dover Athletic, whose first game back in Step 3 for 15 years on Saturday went superbly – a rampant 8-0 win at Potters Bar Town. For context, Dover took until 2 December to score eight away goals last term in relegation from National League South.
Potters Bar’s task doesn’t get much easier – they’re away to fellow newly relegated side Dartford. The Darts opened with a 2-1 win at newly promoted Cray Valley PM.
Cray travel to a fellow Cray, Wanderers, in the first league game at their new Flamingo Park stadium after 26 years sharing at Bromley. The Wands had a dream start on Saturday with a 2-0 win at Hashtag United which saw Shaun Rowley mark his 100th appearance with a penalty save.
Hendon returned to the Isthmian League on Saturday after six years in Southern Premier South. They were transferred soon after losing the 2018 play-off final to Dulwich Hamlet. They meet tonight at Champion Hill – Hendon beat Bowers & Pitsea 2-1 at the weekend while Luke Wanadio’s brace wasn’t enough for Hamlet, who lost 3-2 at Wingate & Finchley.
Over 1,000 witnessed Danny Bloor’s first game in charge of Hastings United on Saturday. A 2-0 win over Horsham was an ideal start, they start their away games at Whitehawk. They were beaten by Billericay Town at the weekend. The Blues travel to Chatham Town this evening – last year’s play-off finalists opened with a 2-0 loss at Lewes.
Canvey Island and Hashtag United both made losing starts at the weekend. They face each other at Park Lane, both finished mid-table in 2023/24.
Cheshunt, who nearly suffered a second successive relegation last season, are away to newly promoted Bowers & Pitsea. Cheshunt started with a 3-2 win over Bognor Regis Town, who host Lewes this evening.
