Brian Pritchard Quits Witton Albion Post

BRIAN PRITCHARD has left NPL Premier side despite a 3-1 win over on Bank Holiday Monday.

The 39-year-old holds the club’s record for appearances as a player and took over as boss in the summer of 2011.

He led Witton to promotion via the Evo-Stik NPL Division One North play-offs in his first season in charge before losing out to FC in the play-offs 12 months later.

Albion finished a disappointing 16th last season but had won two of their four games so far this campaign.

It is understood Pritchard had decided to step down on Thursday but agreed to take charge of the two games over the Bank Holiday weekend.

A club statement read: “Brian Pritchard has asked to leave his post as first team manager at Witton Albion for work and personal reasons. The club can confirm it has reluctantly granted his wish.

“We would like to thank him for everything he has done, and where he has taken us to. We will now start the search for a successor, but won’t be rushed into making an appointment.”
