BRIGG TOWN and Rainworth Miners Welfare have become the latest clubs to resign from the Evo-Stik NPL Division One South.
The pair are following Norton United’s lead following their decision to drop out of the league, and subsequently fold, at the end of the season.
The Northern Premier League have revealed both Brigg and Rainworth have asked to be demoted to Step 5 of the Non-League Pyramid and thus no clubs will be relegated from the league on points position.
A league statement read: “The league has received resignations of membership from Brigg Town FC and Rainworth Miners Welfare FC with a request that they both be relegated to Step 5 of the National League System at the end of the current playing season. The NPL Board have reluctantly accepted the club resignations.
“These two resignations plus that of Norton United FC will mean no club will be relegated from the First Division South as a result of their league points position. The First Division North is not affected by this decision.”
Meanwhile, Tividale will be appealing against the decision to refuse their Beeches home grade D status which is required for Step 4 football.
