NANTWICH Town held off a strong response to defeat second-bottom Ilkeston, whose players haven’t been paid due to the financial troubles at the club.
The two sides were miles adrift for an hour but Ilkeston managed to make a match of it with a late revival on a wet pitch.
Nantwich had turned on the class and took the lead inside eight minutes when pacy winger Joe Mwasile got free on the left and his pinpoint cross was expertly turned in by Matt Bell.
