HE WASHED the kit, helped keep the club alive, and was even interim manager for five games – but after 38 years as Glossop North End secretary, Peter Hammond is stepping down.
The club stalwart responded to an advert he saw in 1979 and has been with the Hillmen ever since.
In that time he’s seen plenty of ups and downs, including promotion to their current Step 4 level and two trips to Wembley for the FA Vase final.
