WORKINGTON put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season to move halfway up the league.
But they needed some inspired work from goalkeeper captain Aaran Taylor to keep them in front against a dogged Hednesford side.
The only goal of the game came on 38 minutes when a cross from Dave Symington was headed away but only to the edge of the area where Conor Tinnion fired a left-foot shot into the bottom corner.
Workington had been the better side and deserved to go into the break with the lead they had accrued.
