A 58TH-MINUTE penalty from top scorer Shaun Harrad earned Matlock Town a deserved win in West Cumbria.
It was not always pretty as the visitors were made to dig deep and battle hard for all three points against determined and dogged opposition.
Ted Cribley had been tripped in the penalty box by Dan Wordsworth and Harrad blasted home his tenth goal of the season.
Although Workington had most of the possession and territory in the first half, it was Matlock who had the better chances - much to the home team’s frustrations.
