CELTIC and Sports shadow boxed to an opening day stalemate, with the home team just about shading what was largely a tame encounter.
Chances were at a premium but the best fell to Sports ten minutes from time when a Nathan Jarman volley was headed off the line by substitute Niall Flint.
Mickleover produced little else though to trouble Celtic’s new look rearguard who looked comfortable throughout, with keeper Jake Turner hardly making a save worthy of the name on his debut.
