SOUTH Shields’ were rescued by Rob Briggs’ penalty seven minutes into injury time but lost ground in the title race.
Basford‘s play-off hopes are all but over after Jack Thomas saw red for handball and Briggs equalised at the death.
The impressive Lewis Carr gave Basford the lead on the hour and they were just seconds away from a famous victory. With the sides being two of the top three leading goalscorers, quick-paced, relentless football was the order of the day.
