SOUTH SHIELDS missed out on the title but are still in the hunt for a fourth consecutive promotion.
The Mariners finished in second place, three points behind worthy champions Farsley Celtic.
A win would have seen Gainsborough sneak into the final play-off positions, but this defeat saw them miss out by a point. Carl Finnigan’s goal on the hour sealed Trinity’s fate.
