NEWLY-PROMOTED Morpeth Town caused an upset on the opening day as they defeated Northern Premier play-off champions Warrington Town at Cantilever Park.
It was a result that is sure to set a benchmark for their season, and perhaps hint that they may well replicate the success that many of their former Northern League predecessors have had in progressing up the football pyramid.
