STAMFORD’S unbeaten start to the season was brought to a halt by a rugged Sheffield.
The omens looked bad with 30 seconds gone. A mix-up allowed Karl Demidh a free shot on goal that Dan Haystead saved well, Mitchell Dunne’s follow-up was blocked by Sean Wright and Marc Newsham could only slice his effort wide.
Sheffield did take the lead soon after, James Gregory picking the ball up from a throw and his cross was steered into the top corner by the head of Newsham. Stamford looked shell shocked but managed to get things in order and a low drive fro...
