ROSS Goodwin’s seventh- minute strike put Stocksbridge on course for victory at Chasetown.
Debutant Dean Williams had a great chance in the first couple of minutes fpr the home side as he bore down on goal but missed the target.
Chasetown then went a goal down as the defence switched off and Goodwin netted past Curtis Pond.
Just before the interval the Scholars felt aggrieved that they were not awarded a spot-kick for a possible foul on Levi Reid.
Pond made two top saves in the second half to keep the difference at one goal.
